Go Fly A Kite! Wildwoods International Kite Festival: May 27-30

Who doesn’t love see kites soaring overhead? If you love a bit of whimsy, you’re in luck because the Wildwoods International Kite Festival flies into town and it just happens to be the largest kite festival in the whole of North America.

Happening at the beach at Rio Grande Avenue and inside the Wildwoods Convention Center, the weekend-long event kicks off Friday May 27 at noon with “Unlocking of the Ocean media event on the beach south of the convention center. After that, the Kite Sales tent opens and by 9 p.m., illuminated kites fill the sky. Events on Saturday and Sunday include the East Coast Stunt Kite Championships on the beach, as well as kite workshops and family games. Monday, May 30 wraps up the festival with the World Indoor Kite Competition inside the convention center – come and watch the pros fly kites without wind! This entire event is free for all.

 

Farmers Market Grand Opening: May 28

The Jersey Shore’s best Farmers Market is opening for the season on Saturday May 28 at the corner of Pacific and Schellenger Avenues. A wondrous way to wander through a morning here in Wildwood, this farmers market won the 2014 Best New Attraction award from the Wildwood Chamber of Commerce and the 2014 Best of Free Time award from Catamaran Media weekend until September 3, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The corner of Pacific and Schellenger is a short drive or comfortable walk from our family owned and operated resort.
